Biography

In the early 1990’s, the music industry in New York City was as vibrant as ever.
Iconic venues, legendary DJs and groundbreaking music dominated the City’s
landscape. Artistic expression was omnipresent and creativity flourished, fueling the
resurgence of the nightlife scene and capturing the imagination of some of the most
talented musical minds.  Peter Bailey was among those who drew inspiration from
this musical renaissance.  His passion for music and his experiences during this
unique time formed the foundation for what has now, after 16 years, become a
stellar career as a DJ/Music Producer/Entrepreneur.

The music industry can be somewhat insular. Success doesn’t come easy and
obstacles may seem insurmountable at times.  At a young age, Peter understood
these challenges and demonstrated his maturity by being a dedicated student of
music, a good listener, and a hard worker.  He understood that success meant
building relationships, cultivating friendships and learning the music industry and its
machinations. With this disposition, it wasn’t too long before Peter found himself
playing alongside some dance music heavyweights before large crowds.  As he
gained more and more exposure, his ambitions intensified. He needed to take it to
the next level, not merely playing other people’s music, but creating his very own.
Peter took the next logical step and began to produce music. Having saved some
hard-earned dollars from his early gigs, Peter purchased recording equipment and
began experimenting. Soon thereafter, Peter began to release his own original
tracks and the industry took notice. Peter’s original track “U Need it” had caught
the attention of world renowned DJ Steve Lawler.  After hearing the track, Lawler
immediately signed Peter to his new label Harlem Records for a three single deal.
The success of “U Need it” gave Peter the boost he needed in the international
dance community leading to performances abroad, coveted radio spots, and
accolades from industry stalwarts.

Peter’s first release for Harlem Records, entitled “Dancefloor,” found itself on the
airwaves of Radio1 as well as Kiss FM in the UK. Due to the success of Dancefloor,
as well as other releases, remix offers from popular artists such as Justin
Timberlake, Amber, Missy Elliot, Ghostface Killer among others began to pour in.
Peter solidified his style and brand of music with five remixes scoring #1 on the
Billboard Dance Charts. In addition, some of Peter’s originals landed on over 30
international mixed compilations.  On the DJing front, Peter’s production
achievements generated a slew of solicitations for DJ performances abroad.
Invitations to play all over the world, from North America to South America to
Eastern Europe to Asia, were flowing in leading to many trips abroad, which further
cemented his reputation in the international community as a top-notch talent.
As time progressed Peter developed a keen sense for good music, particularly with
its associated technical aspects.  He acquired the skill set of a recording engineer;
developing a trained ear with the precision required is no easy feat.  With all of the
tools he accumulated over time, he focused his energies on creating his very own
record label.  As an entrepreneur, Peter sought to meld the experiences of his life’s
work with his business acumen to build a reputable record label.

A DJ, self taught producer, recording engineer, small business owner, Peter Bailey
is as well-rounded as they come.  His breadth of knowledge is evident in whatever
endeavor he undertakes.  He is a well-respected, talented artist with a hard work
ethic.  Currently Peter’s schedule is as busy as ever as he regularly plays around
the world, while maintaining his record label and a large output of original
production and remixes.
